PIERCE COUNTY TERMINAL BUILDING

This project included construction of a container yard, an intermodal yard, infrastructure, utilities relocation, roadway work, traffic revisions, and waterway and turning basin widening. The new Evergreen Terminal is the largest construction project in the Port's 85-year history at an estimated construction cost of $210 million. ORA was engaged to provide complete testing and inspection services for the project that included the Administration Building, Generator Building, Main Guard Building, Maintenance Building, Marine Building, Reefer Wash, Roadability, Strad Wash, Trouble Shack, and West Guard Building. Items of special inspection and materials testing performed include: soils compaction, reinforced concrete, reinforced masonry, structural steel, high strength bolting, and spray-applied fireproofing.

 


2002 AIRFIELD IMPROVEMENT PROJECT - CONTRACTS 1 & 2

 

SeaTac, Washington

Contract 1 was performed under 2 work orders – Taxiway B/ Taxiway North Reconstruction and Runway 16R – 34L Pavement Repair. ORA provided testing and inspection of asphalt paving, soils compaction, reinforced concrete, drilled core thickness measurement. Contract 2 involved the testing and inspection of concrete, structural steel, soils compaction, and asphalt paving under 6 work orders – STEP Apron Pavement Construction, Concourse “A” Fuel Hydrant System Phase I, Transiplex Hardstand Expansion, West Ramp South Expansion, Perimeter Road/ AOA Fence Relocate, and Aircraft Fueling System.

 


SEA AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL TOWER

Supporting the FAA Seattle Center air traffic control operations, this project incorporates a complete replacement airport traffic control tower and the establishment of an administrative base building at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Otto Rosenau & Associates, Inc. was involved in the construction inspection and material testing of all structural components including: soils, reinforced concrete, glass fiber reinforced concrete panel fabrication, structural steel fabrication, and other duties.

 


TERMINAL 115 BERTH 1 MODIFICATIONS

This project involved the alteration of existing piers and construction of a new ramp into the Duwamish Waterway including dolphins, winches, dredging and sheet piles. Our structural special inspection scope of work included the following items: reinforced concrete, shoring system welding, structural steel embedments in concrete, and structural steel fabrication and erection (including nondestructive testing of welds).

 


SFO INTERNATIONAL TERMINAL EXPANSION

Major expansion of the San Francisco International Airport. Contract services included all off-site structural steel fabrication and all on-site structural steel erection for the complete structural steel package. Structural steel fabrication was performed at multiple facilities including the Herrick Company (Stockton Steel), San Bernardino Steel, PDM Strocal, Canron Portland and British Columbia, and Corey S.A. in the State of Jalisco, Guadalajara, Mexico.

ORA was engaged to perform all structural steel fabrication inspections at the Canron New Westminster facility (British Columbia, Canada), and included all material identification and mill certifications, welder qualification and certifications, weld procedure specifications (WPS) review and approval, fitup, preheating and post heating, welding of complete penetration and single/multiple pass welds, nondestructive testing (Ultrasonic, Magnetic Particle and Liquid Penetrant Methods), high strength bolts and shop application of two-part epoxy finishes.


ANC TERMINAL C REDEVELOPMENT

Major renovation to the Anchorage International Airport in Alaska. Contract services included all offshore structural steel fabrication for the complete structural steel package. Structural steel was fabricated at the facilities of Hyundai Heavy Industries, South Korea. Specific duties include material identification and mill certifications, welder qualification and certifications, weld procedure specifications (WPS) review and approval, fitup, preheating and post heating, welding of complete penetration and single/multiple pass welds, nondestructive testing (Ultrasonic, Magnetic Particle and Liquid Penetrant Methods), high strength bolts and shop application of two-part epoxy finishes.
