Link Light Rail Rainier Valley Contract C735

This is a highly publicized major reconstruction of the Rainier Valley
corridor with 4.3-mile double light rail tracks in the middle of MLK.
The project consists of new water and sewer lines, power and
communication lines, pavement, sidewalks, and plazas. In addition,
stations will be built at South Edmonds, Othello and Henderson streets.
Otto Rosenau &
Associates, Inc. (ORA) was engaged by the contractor to provide quality
control and quality assurance services. Our testing and inspection scope
of work included, but was not limited to, the following items: soils
(including limited geotechnical support), asphalt, concrete, grout,
masonry, paint, shotcrete, structural steel, and nondestructive testing
of rail welds. Specialty services provided by ORA included pull testing,
video survey, Holiday testing, corrosion testing (subcontracted),
destructive testing of rail welds (dynamic bend test, slow bend test,
and hardness test – subcontracted) and Pachometer survey.
